The Nissan Pathfinder has received a major redesign for the 2017 year. Along with a new front grille adopting Nissan’s signature V-motion design and signature boomerang-shaped headlights, the vehicle has LED Daytime Running Lights and available LED headlights.
But the changes extend beyond appearances. The Pathfinder has a tweaked powertrain pumping 284 hp from a new 3.5-litre V6 engine, adding a direct injection system and towing capabilities up to 6000lbs.
Different wheel options are available for the Pathfinder models, with the S, SV, and SL grades receiving 18-inch machined aluminum-alloy wheels, and the Platinum model with 20-inch ones.
Upgrades to the interior focus on convenience and connectivity. Everything from small, simple details (such as the cupholders being reshaped to allow mug handles) to more technology-based upgrades (like the two USB ports inside the console). In the centre console, a standard 8-inch touch-screen monitor is designed to provide intuitive interaction and allows the driver to access several vehicle systems and settings including NissanConnectSM with Voice Recognition for audio options, Bluetooth, and vehicle information. Several additional options are available for different models.
Nissan says the biggest change comes from the adoption of technology known as Advanced Drive-Assist Display (ADA). Located in the centre of the instrument display, this tech provides the driver with more infotainment options and information, as well as driver assistance displays. Voice recognition inside the vehicle has also been improved with a new HD microphone.
The vehicle has a keyless engine, and with the Nissan Intelligent Key in the driver’s pocket, they can make use of the Motion-Activated liftgate feature, which activates the trunk when their foot goes under the rear bumper.
Several of the safety features included with the 2017 Pathfinder include Forward Emergency Braking, Intelligent Cruise Control, and an ‘Around View’ monitor with Moving Object Detection.
For those interested in storage availability, the under-floor storage area can be easily accessed even when the third row is upright, adding extra space whether or not the car is full with seven people on board.
Pricing for the 2017 Nissan Pathfinder begins at $32,498.
