It’s not on the road yet but the 2019 GMC Sierra is becoming on of the most anticipated vehicles of the new season with truck enthusiasts following every tidbit of information that they can find.
Probably the most significant change in the new Sierra is the use of aluminum and high-tensile steel.
The hood, doors, and tailgate are aluminum.
Designed to reduce the over all weight of the vehicle and improve fuel efficiency, the new design gives the Sierra 10 to 15 % increase in payload and fuel efficiency.
The design allows for a safe passenger cab while taking full advantage of the lightweight aluminum to for the over all look of the truck.
Based on information from insider sources, the new Sierra is going to be slightly larger than the old version.
Exterior enhancements include U-shaped running lights, C-shaped headlights, and vertically mounted fog lights.
This all surrounds the typical bold GMC grille that defines the front end of the truck.
Inside, the Sierra has the comfort and quality that has come to be expected in the this line of vehicles.
With triple door seals, hydraulic body mounts, and aerodynamic exterior mirrors to reduce wind noise, the Sierra provides and exceptionally quiet interior ride.
All this is enhanced with premium interior materials, a soft-touch instrument panel and trim and available aluminum trim accents that complete the design.
GMC has not yet confirmed what the powerplant will be in the new models, however expect to see the current V6 and V8 powertrains to be carried over with possible enhancements.
The new 2019 Sierra is officially still under wraps but when the wrapping comes off it will be on of the most eagerly awaited trucks on the market this year.
