On August 24th, Cruisin’ on First, in partnership with Hagerty
Insurance, hosted their second Youth Judging night, designed to inspire a new generation to develop an appreciation and love for cars.
“We developed this idea to get kids interested in learning about classics and to take part in a type of event that is predominately more of a mature crowd,” explained David Murphy, organizer of Cruisin’ on First.
This year, 14 kids of various ages, both girls and boys, signed up to participate. After receiving their judging packages, t-shirts, and instructions from David and Hagerty representative Michelle Henderson, the kids began their adventure.
“They made their way through the show to look at cars that had registered for the judging and meet the owners of the vehicles, both new and old,” said David. “They judged everything from a 2006 Aston Martin to a 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1, and even a Canadian classic, the 1965 Acadian Beaumont.”
The special judges of the night were split into two groups, each receiving 10 cars to judge, varying from classics, trucks, and even some newer supercars. They also had the opportunity to award first, second, and third place winners, who each received a Youth Judging Night trophy, keychain, and placement ribbon.
