A Legacy of Motorsport
When Hans Pfaff started H.J.Pfaff Motors in 1964, I don’t imagine he would have thought his dealership in Newmarket would have grown to become the large and continually growing Auto Group we see here today in 2013. Mr. Pfaff always had an interest in sport whether it be local sports teams, the equestrian competition he loved so much or top level motorsport.
A number of years ago Hans’ son Christopher, took over the reins of this company but he also inherited his Dad’s passion for motorsport.
This year with an association between the Pfaff Motorsport division and Alegra Motorsport of Miami Florida, Pfaff has been campaigning a trio of Porsche GT3 Cup cars in the Canadian edition of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Series. With one weekend to go, drivers Chris Green, Victor Carbone, Troy Castaneda and Carlos De Quesada have collected 8 class wins and 10 top 5 finishes between the cars. “This brings Pfaff back to its early roots of racing success” team manager Jimmy Vervitas told me, “Well known Canadian Indy car driver Scott Goodyear had much success with Pfaff and Porsches in the eighties. It’s great to see this happening again for our company”
This season is comprised of 5 two race events each with 4 classes of drivers, Platinum and Gold, both with Master Levels. Now with the season nearing the end, Pfaff and its team have second position in the championship, something team principal Christopher Pfaff hopes will change to first in the last event. As we have heard time and time again winning brings the customers to the product and winning is something the Pfaff Auto Group is all about.
