A Summer of Speed
This summer is gearing up to be an exciting one again for Ontario Motorsport fans. Stock Car racing at our local short tracks Sunset and Barrie Speedway, have busy schedules. Sunset Speedway as well as its regular weekly card, hosts the OSSCAR late model series and the exotic ISMA Super Modifieds and Lucas Oil CanAm midget series. Barrie and Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) will both host rounds of the NASCAR Canadian Tire series where some of Canada’s best Stock Car racers battle it out putting on an awesome show. If you want to see world class sports car racing, CTMP will also host the Tudor United Sports Car Championship. This showcases exotics and technology from a vast array of manufacturers such as Chevrolet , Porsche, Acura and Audi and race cars like you would see in the 24hrs of Le Mans or Daytona.
A big fan favorite “ NASCAR “ from the south of the border also bring their Camping World Truck Series to CTMP and what an event that is! Last year’s race is still being talked about. Something new at CTMP this June will be the “Glory Days Celebration of Speed” a 3 day event patterned after the successful Goodwood in England. This will bring classic racecars and famous drivers together for the fans to enjoy. A competitive hillclimb event will let the crowd hear these machines in action. A huge Concours D’elegance car show will let fans get a close up look at these machines. A classic car auction and various automotive activities fill out the weekend there as well. So check out the dates and times online for these events so you can plan your visits. It should be exciting! Written by Perry M. Mason
