The Abela family has turned a passion for cars into a family owned and
Richard Abela and his son Derec started fixing cars at their Caledon home before opening Caledon Motors on Airport Road in 1999. The shop specializes in Volkswagens and Audis and offers sales and service including complete auto repair, computer diagnostic service, quality new and used parts and recycled Volkswagen parts for early and late models. All the work is done on site by Class “A” certified technicians.
“It started out as a hobby and now it’s been almost 25 years,” said Derec, who now runs the shop alongside his sister Cindy Abela. Technician Colin McKenzie joined the team 11 years ago.
Derec began to take an interest in cars when he was 17. He started working with his father, who was an auto body technician and decided to pursue it as a career. He went to school for the trade and became a fully licensed technician.
Over the years he has earned a reputation as a reliable mechanic. As well as installing new parts, he is also able to restore old parts. His goal is to keep costs as reasonable as possible for his customers, and that is what keeps driving people back to the shop for service. His clients come from the Caledon area and beyond.
Caledon Motors is located at 15396 Airport Road in Caledon East. For more information call 905-584-1254.
