Blackstock ford Lincoln helps community organizations through test drives
Ford has set out to make a difference in communities across the country since 2012 with their annual Drive 4 Ur Community (D4URC). With such a large presence in so many towns and cities Canada-wide, the company realized that while larger charities like Habitat for Humanity and Make-A-Wish receive lots of attention, groups within the communities their dealerships are featured need assistance too.
Blackstock Ford, who participated in the 2014 D4URC, was able to raise $1480 for this year’s selected local charity, Choices Youth Shelter.
“Choices seemed like the right place for a number of reasons,” explained Shane Bigler, General Sales Manager at Blackstock Ford. “I’ve known April and Erin from Choices for many years, and we thought it was important to do it for an organization that we know does good work and has a need.”
Choices Youth Shelter has been in Orangeville for 13 years now, and works towards helping at-risk and homeless youth get their feet on the ground and take control of their lives.
“It’s fabulous and feels amazing to have been chosen,” said April Nash, Operations Director at Choices. “We have excellent support and our community has been fantastic. This money helps out so much, so we are very thankful that we were selected.”
Drive 4 UR Community is a special test-drive event in which Ford donates $20 for every completed test drive on a select date towards the local charity. This year, Blackstock Ford held their event in June, and they’re already getting excited for next year.
“We really look forward to doing many more Drive 4 Ur Community events in the future,” said Mr. Bigler. “It all goes to a great cause, and it feels great to be doing something for our community.”
