Last week, Caledon Meals on Wheels got an extra boost at their signature fundraiser, The Innis Lake Dance. They were handed the keys to a brand new custom branded 2015 Nissan Rogue courtesy of Performance Auto Group, which owns Honda, Hyundai and Nissan dealerships in the Caledon area, as well as Motion Mazda in Orangeville. This kind of generosity is the lifeblood or organizations like Meal On Wheels. This fact is not lost on the Alizadeh family, which owns the group. Giving back to the community goes back to the very beginning with them; they also support Brampton’s Meals on Wheels program, the first of it’s kind in Canada. The group’s president, Glen Alizadeh sums it up thus: “My father instilled in me the importance to share with those who are most in need, and it stands as one of our core values in our organization. It is an absolute pleasure to provide support to Caledon Meals on Wheels, an organization which has been creative, effective, and provides crucial services to our families and our elders.” Their support extends to beyond the car to include meeting space, print materials and organizational support. Performance Auto Group has grown over its 50 years, becoming the largest automotive dealership group in Ontario, with 23 locations representing 30 brands. In Caledon, Performance Auto Group is proud to serve the community at Bolton Honda, Bolton Nissan, Bolton Hyundai, and Motion Mazda in Orangeville. Performance Automotive Group also supports a multitude of other charities and not-for-profit groups, and it does so quietly with the minimum of fuss. As Director of Marketing and Communications Drew Delaware puts it, “They’re a humble family who want to do the right thing. Philanthropy was a big thing for Sam (Alizadeh, founder) and it continues to be for his children Glen, Steve and May who run the company now. Performance Automotive Group has two overriding principles – a commitment to integrity, and a commitment to community.” The most recent beneficiary of the group’s philanthropy, Caledon Meals on Wheels is happy for the support. It is a volunteer-driven, not-for-profit agency which provides meals, services, and social programs to residents living in the Town of Caledon and Orangeville area. Their services and programs and provided with the goal of allowing clients can live independently in their homes and remain in their communities. “We are delighted at this wonderful opportunity that Performance Auto Group has given us. Their generosity and their commitment to supporting the local community is inspiring. We are honoured they have chosen to partner with us,” said Executive Director Christine Sevigny.
