Guts to Glory
A classic car makeover not to be missed!
This award winning Hot Rod affectionately called Big Bucks by classic car owner, David Wilson, is the result of a very clear vision that only a fantastic imagination could have ever dared to dream.
Wilson, a Timmins, Ontario resident and Certified Mechanic by trade, has taken Big Bucks across Ontario and visited the United States winning awards and turning heads at every car show he attends. The sheer magnitude of the transformation and the commitment would turn even the most die- hard classic car lovers away, but not Wilson. He set his mind on the project and worked tirelessly until he could see the end result of this incredible restoration. Most recently Big Bucks made the cover of Garage Shots Magazine, a feather in Wilson’s cap and further recognition of his work, skill and ultimate love for the 1931 Plymouth, completely given a new lease on life. Now a Hot Rod with a 383 stroker with inglese 8 stack electronic fuel injection system, 350 turbo trans, Mustang 2 front suspension with flaming river rack pinion steering system, 4 link custom made suspension, Ford 8 inch rear differential with auburn posi- track 355 gears, hot rod air AC and heater, auto lock power windows, hidden hinges, shaved door handles, completely custom interior and a complete custom body rebuild, this hot rod sits in a category all its own. Impressive specs to say the least, but a quick look at the unique grill and anyone can see the skill, determination and dedication involved to create and manufacture a custom grill to fit the bill, illustrating Wilson’s artisan nature as being exceptional. Wilson met each and every challenge including the being located so far north, the internet was imperative in finding parts across the United States and having them shipped to Canada, making Big Bucks international. “It took about five years to build. I rebuilt the engine, transmission and rear end with some guidance and I built the body with three good friends. I really enjoy going to car shows whenever I can,” commented Wilson. Wilson enjoys going to car shows so much he created a specially designed trailer just for Big Bucks, after all, he needs to have somewhere to keep all the awards he wins on the long trip home! From guts to glory unparalleled, this Hot Rod is a sweet ride, a labor of love and is a sight to behold. For Classic Car lovers, and Hot Rod aficionados, Big Bucks is a shining example that says it all and it’s not about the money!
