July is starting off as a significant month for new, high performance reveals from the Big 3. Each manufacturer has revealed or is revealing something new and high performance that has been long-awaited or highly anticipated. Ford had announced American pricing on its new high-performance Shebly GT500 but most importantly, the power numbers. The new 2020 Shelby GT500 puts out 760hp and 625ft.lbs of torque, ensuring this pony car is a real performer. This puts the GT500 right in power territory of the more-powerful Challenger Hellcat Redeye, which sports 797hp, making them true rivals in the horsepower wars.
Dodge has also released its latest high-performance offering, the 2020 Dodge Charger Hellcat Widebody, which has become the only way to order a Charger Hellcat for 2020. This new body style sports widebody fender flares alike the Challenger Hellcat Widebody as well as the 305-series tires and a unique redesigned front fascia that looks more aggressive and sleek. You can get the Charger Widebody in R/T Scat Pack form or the Hellcat with the 717 hp 6.2L Supercharged Hemi V8. Look for these aggressive and impressive family sedans later in the year.
Lastly, on July 18th, Chevrolet is revealing what we have been waiting for almost 50 years from the Corvette line, the new C8 Corvette which is evolving into a mid-engined supercar. Corvette has played around with the development and ideas for a mid-engined sports car and Corvette for almost sixty years and this is finally becoming a reality. On July 18th, the new C8 Vette will be revealed in Santa Monica. The new C8 has been teased by General Motors and has been captured by many spy photographers, some getting exposed shots of the car just this week. Expect high horsepower versions as well but we will not know specifications until the 18th and pricing until later in the year. Stay tuned!
