The 2018 Honda Accord was named North America Car of the Year at the Detroit Auto Show on January 18.
Up against some stiff competition the Accord impressed judges who take a lot of things into consideration during the judging process including comfort, value, fuel economy, design, and engineering.
The Car of the Year award is reserved for models that are new or significantly updated for 2018. This is the third win in a row for Honda with Civic taking Car of the Year in 2016 and the Ridgeline winning Truck of the Year in 2017.
Judges cited increased cargo space, a more luxurious interior, and the new turbo engine, as well as a strong amount of standard equipment, as some of the things that impressed them the most.
The judging panel is comprised of North American Auto Journalists who are experts in the automotive industry.
Honda pulled the wraps off the new 2018 design – the tenth generation of this popular vehicle – and it is lighter, more efficient, roomier and quicker than earlier versions.
The Honda Accord has become one of the iconic sedan styles of the new millennium with classy low profile style and contoured front end.
This midsize sedan has defined the classic look of automotive design over the past decade and now in 2018 it was been completely redesigned with a longer wheelbase and and new engine lineup.
With more rear-seat legroom than ever before, this already spacious car is even more roomy for five passengers.
With a new fastback style on the rear, the Accord has a sleek profile that defines elegance with a sporty appeal.
Available chrome finishers on the rear dual exhaust add a sporty feature and combined with the available 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels gives the overall package a refined yet sporty appearance.
The Accord is available with three advanced powertrains including the all new 1.5 L and 2.0 L turbocharged engines. This will be the most fun to drive and fuel efficient model yet.
Designed for those who like to drive but also appreciate technology, the new model is the most technologically advanced Accord ever built featuring next level intelligence and premium features.
This extends to enhanced driver assist functions such as a Collision Mitigating Braking system, Road Departure Mitigation System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, and Traffic Sign Recognition that comes, for the first time ever, standard on all Accord models.
Inside, the quiet cabin has high quality soft-touch materials and a styled dashboard that rests below a windshield the provides an expansive front view of the road ahead of you.
The interior compliments the Accord’s athletic yet elegant body design.
Meticulous attention to the visual quality of the interior surface materials adds a modern feel throughout the cabin.
With over all performance, combined with the quality and refinement of the exterior design and interior elegance, the all new 2018 Honda Accord will become one of the most sought after vehicles of this year.
