Automobiles have changed a lot since the days when the most advanced piece of technology in your car was a tube powered radio.
GM vehicles have kept up with the most recent automotive technology when it comes to performance and efficiency and now they have added communications an important part of your driving life.
Combining every day technology with an automobile now means you can integrate your daily life and important business functions while you’re on the road – and do it safely.
Using your phone to text or talk while driving is not only extremely dangerous, it’s against the law and you could face a heavy fine if caught driving while not paying attention.
GM technology now offers you the benefit of on-board integration with your phone so you no longer have to find a safe parking spot to receive an important call, text message or even email.
Bolton GM will be hosting an evening where you can learn all about these new features and what a benefit they are to today’s drivers.
“It’s a technology workshop. We will have a representative from General Motors Canada and we’ll be showing the integration of the technology with whatever smart phone you have,” explained Mary Beitz, Sales and Leasing Specialist with Bolton GM. “The evening will explain how Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integrates the functionality of your smartphone with the vehicle’s touchscreen and voice commands. The vehicle becomes a conduit for the technology in your phone. It allows you to stay connected and productive safely while driving. It is an easy way to utilize the data and convenience of your phone while driving.”
You simply use a common USB port and cable to plug your phone into your car. From there, the technology takes over and a conveniently located display offers you the ability to access data on your phone while keeping your hands on the wheel and your attention on the road ahead of you.
All GM vehicles also now have their own App, whether it be the MyCadillac App, MyBuick App, MyChevrolet App or MyGMC App, which gives a driver updated information about their vehicle’s performance.
The mobile app allows you to remotely check your vehicle diagnostics… from anywhere. It even allows you to schedule service appointments and request roadside assistance all from your fingertips,” explained Ms. Beitz.
The evening will also be a great opportunity to learn about OnStar technology that is available in new GM vehicles.
OnStar is an amazing wireless system that provides a vehicle owner with a wide range of services.
When it comes to road safety and assistance, OnStar is on the leading edge of providing driver security and peace of mind.
If you ever encounter a problem on the road, OnStar will assist using several methods.
Emergency services provides a one touch priority connection to a specially trained OnStar adviser who can direct emergency personnel to your exact location. The same technology provides roadside assistance if you require a tow truck or experience a flat tire.
If your vehicle is stolen, OnStar can work with authorities and use GPS to pinpoint its location and have it recovered.
This same technology utilizes built in sensors that can automatically alert an OnStar adviser who is immediately connected to your vehicle to see if you need help in the event of a crash – even if you are unable to ask for it.
Many people know the frustration of locking your vehicle then realizing you left your keys inside.
With OnStar, a simple call to an adviser, or one button press on your mobile app, will have your doors unlocked remotely.
All this technology may see overwhelming to some people, but it is all very useful and not very complicated at all once you know how to use it.
That’s why Bolton GM is hosting a special evening to explain how it all works and what the advantages are of driving a GM vehicle equipped with the latest in safety features and hands free communications.
The evening will be held on Tuesday, September 27, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bolton GM located at 12420 Highway 50, in Bolton
Cutline: Hayden Gorman, of Bolton GM, demonstrates the new technology available in GM vehicles.
Now users can plug their phone into a vehicle for hands-free usage. A seminar on the new
technology will take place at Bolton GM on Tuesday, September 27.
