Magic Christmas Forest lights up for the holiday season
Local auto dealers decorate trees for the holidays
The Christmas spirit was very much alive at the Magic Christmas Forest that took place a the parish hall at St. John’s Anglican Church on Highway 9, just east of Orangeville.
The annual event featured a forest of Christmas trees available for the public to view while being part of an important and compassionate holiday project.
The Christmas trees are donated by local organizations and businesses. They are decorated by the staff when the a tree is brought to the Church hall then arranged so visitors can take a stroll through the magic of the season.
The Forest is held in partnership with the Orangeville Police Service and its Toys for Tots program. Members of the fire department and emergency services also participate.
Organizers at the Church coordinate the sponsorship of businesses and auto dealerships in town.
This is the fourth year the Magical Christmas Forest has been on display a the church.
Visitors are asked to bring a donation for the food bank as well as toys for the Toys for Tots program.
Local auto dealerships, MacMaster Buick GMC, Orangeville Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat, and Orangeville Honda all participated in the event this year.
Visitors can vote on their favourite tree. A ballot is later drawn and the tree is donated to the winning ballot.
In keeping with the spirit of the season, many families already have a tree at home and ask that the tree they won be given to someone who needs a Christmas tree to brighten up their home for the season.
Some trees are donated to the Salvation Army who distribute them. Organizers said the trees are well received and several local families were recipients.
Toys donated are distributed by the Toys for Tots program in the region.
The Magic Christmas Forest is an opportunity to enjoy some traditions of the season while helping others enjoy the holidays.
