Most truck owner don’t just drive their vehicle – they like to personalize it and many choose to raise their vehicles with leveling or lift kits for a higher ride and allow for larger tires.
At Orangeville Chrysler, the lift and leveling kits they use are genuine Mopar products that are specifically designed for Chrysler and Ram trucks. Mopar is the division of Chrysler that manufactures original parts for their vehicles. A truck can be raised from as little as one inch up to six inches. It’s all a matter of choice for the vehicle owner. “The typical lift kit size is four inches,” explained Orangeville Chrysler automotive technician, Kristopher Taylor. “Trucks all look the same when they are manufactured so lots of guys want a different wheel or they want their truck to stand out from the rest. It’s a matter of styling and what you like,” Mr. Taylor said of why so many truck owners have their vehicle lifted. It’s a big job to lift a truck requiring special knowledge of how the undercarriage of a truck is put together. “We take apart all the shocks and all the front end components and install a longer shock, front and rear. With a lift kit it’s more involved. We install a whole new suspension. We install parts to get the frame sitting up higher.” The advantage of using original Mopar parts rather than an after-market unit is the kits are
built specifically for the vehicles and are backed with a guarantee. “Mopar is factory backed. They will cover any
warranty issues. We keep all the kits here in stock,” Mr. Taylor explained. “Any kid of wheel or tire combo we can usually have the next day.” A lift kit provides a lot of added clearance and will allow a tire as large as 35 inches to be installed. Together with some stylized rims, your truck becomes a one of a kind vehicle that much different that the same model your neighbour drives. On the practical side of automotive enhancements, lifting your truck gives you a lot of added clearance so if you spend a lot of time on back country roads in the winter, you’ll appreciate how well your
vehicle performs if you’re on the road before the snow plow is. Authentic Mopar parts are the best bet for your Chrysler or Ram truck. Written by Brian Lockhart
