New Roads Classic Car Show
It was a hot summer day with a light breeze that made an appearance from time to time and no rain was in sight. It could not have been a better day for the New Roads Newmarket and Highway 11 Cruisers Car Club car show for Big Brothers Big Sisters of York.
Before 10 am the cars started to arrive – classic, custom, hot rods, muscle, old and new, you name it and every style and type of automobile was there. A few motorcycles also made an appearance.
Thanks to the support of New Roads Newmarket their parking lot that is normally filled to capacity with new cars was cleared for this special event.
Visitors started arriving at 10 am and by 12 noon the parking lot was filled with cars and people. There were about 100 cars on display.
Everyone enjoyed the variety and types of automobiles as well as the special attention that the owners gave to their cars in the form of unique paint colours and designs, bright chrome, special hood ornaments, etc. The display of cars varied from classic automobiles that had been painstakingly restored to custom and modified cars that had more paint and horsepower than on the original vehicle.
Every detail to make this a successful car show was thought of – music from the ‘50’s, ‘60’s and ‘70’s was provided by Bob Hawkins Disc Jockey Service; food was provided by Greg Foster of M & M Meat Shops in Aurora; and there was ice cream and face painting for the children.
By the end of the day $10,000 was raised for Big Brothers Big Sisters of York.
