Park transformed into Christmas wonderland
During the summer months Kay Cee Gardens in Orangeville is a tranquil place with a trail and trees in the heart of a bustling town.
It serves as a place to walk and for some, a place to find a little solitude.
When winter rolls around, however, it becomes a magical place filled with lights and Christmas displays.
Located right in the middle of Orangeville, Kay Cee park is home to Christmas in the Park – a full blown Christmas inspired celebration of lights and sound hosted by the Optimist Club of Orangeville.
This is the 24th year the the Park has been turned in an outdoor holiday celebration.
Working with the Town, the Optimist Club has improved the infrastructure used to produce the annual event including the installation of electrical boxes, a P.A. system, and building a gazebo and bridge.
Around 1500 hours of volunteer time goes into planning, setting up, and removing the displays. This includes the installation of over 50,000 lights that guide visitors through the pathways.
This year, Christmas in the Park had it’s opening night ceremony on December 2, and will be open to the public through to December 31.
Through the four weeks it is open, the Park provides a variety of activities including photos with Santa, and live performances from several musical and theatre groups.
Admission is free and so is the parking.
There are many businesses lending a hand to sponsor this year’s park.
The main event sponsors are MacMaster Buick GMC and Orangeville Chrysler.
Signs naming all the sponsors can be seen at various exhibits through the Park.
Christmas in the Park is a one of a kind event that will fill you and your families with a lifetime of Christmas memories.
The Park is open from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and there are volunteers on hand to answer any questions and guide you through the paths.
