Pfaff Automotive Partners Celebrating 50 Years in the Auto Business
In 1964 Hans Pfaff opened H.J.Pfaff Motors at17605 Yonge Street in Newmarket, Ontario. He started with 13 employees selling and repairing VW automobiles.
In 1966, Pfaff became one of the first official Canadian Porsche dealers and to this day the longest in operation. The growth continued during the following years and in 1972, Audi was added to the Pfaff line up on Yonge street with the Audi Fox being the first model to hit their showroom floor. Mr. Pfaff must have known back then that these brands would grow to be as successful as they are today, such foresight. The original Yonge Street store is no longer in use and all the brands are in new locations. This year, 2014 marks the 50th anniversary for Pfaff and its growth has been impressive.
The group now has over 500 employees with 11 locations in Newmarket, Vaughan, Orangeville, Woodbridge, Mississauga, London and Vancouver. Brands in the group are Volkswagen, Porsche, Audi, Toyota, McLaren, Pagani and most recently, BMW. As well, to support this array of exciting cars, a fully equipped state of the art body shop facility named Pfaff Autoworks, is also located in Vaughan. After his father’s passing in the early ’90s, H.J.‘s son Christopher Pfaff took the wheel of the family business and steered it to become one of Canada’s top 50 best managed companies this year earning “Gold“ status in the business world, something Chris and his staff are very proud of.
The Pfaff name in the Canadian auto retailing business is fast becoming a “brand” not just a car dealer. Over the years, the bold Pfaff logo could be seen at sporting events such as equestrian, and biking competitions to top level Motorsport. The Pfaff name has always been synonymous with quality and success and a visit to one of their locations will show you just that. Stay tuned this year as Pfaff will be celebrating their achievements and thanking their loyal customers throughout 2014.
