When Real Estate Agent for Le Page Reality, Colleen Chapman first learned to drive, she was styling a vintage vehicle. Since that time she has loved the classic car genre.
Two years ago, Chapman purchased 1948 DeSoto Custom. For those of us still learning about classic cars that term refers to the vehicle being half standard parts, have automatic parts.
Chapman proudly reveals its history, “This is an example of the first Taxi Cabs out of the United States and DeSoto was bought out by Chrysler eventually.” Chapman’s knowledge is only surpassed by her skill as she knows every nook and cranny of the workings of this spectacular vehicle commenting, “It’s a Tip Toe Transmission. They used to call it a Six Banger in the old days.”
Still with most of its original parts, Chapman updated the wheels. Its advertisers created information signage which is now vintage and reads, ‘ Turn signals, 4-way flashers, Engine 21806 cu.in. line 6 2 Barrel car, Wheelbase 117inches, Overall length 197.’ Chapman keeps this sign on the back dash.
From hood to back fender this gem is a show stopper right down to the classic color.
