This summer had its share of auto events and activities and one stands out for me above the others and that was the 19th annual Tottenham Car show held in the Township of New Tecumseth this past July at the Tottenham conservation area . This show is a part of “Community Week” celebrated each July. I decided to bring my classic car to this event as some of my friends and family were also showing there. Upon first arriving the organization and preparedness was evident. Everyone was guided in with orderly fashion and shown to a nice spot unless they whished to park with friends already there. A $10 donation was required for registration, all going to local charities. All the entrants received the usual “goodie bag” and dash plaque to add to their collection. One of my favorite things, breakfast, consisted of thick cut peameal andback bacon on a bun and the coffee was awesome. The day brought out over 360 registrants and even more spectators. I could understand why this was, as this show had a very comfortable and classy feel to it with the venue being in a tree shaded park with a beachfront foreground and live music by the water. Spectators could view almost any type of classic vehicle made, talk with owners all while enjoying a day at the beach with the kids. The numerous classes had trophies for the top 3 positions all donated by local businesses. I’m also proud to say that this writer even joined in the accolades by getting 2nd place in my class. A great day was had by all and I would highly recommend this show and it’s a worthwhile trip. So mark Tottenham on your calendar for next summer . You can also take a ride on the Historic Steam Train in town while visiting, it’s all less than an hour from anywhere in the Region and the GTA.
